Identities, Art international encounter,  has been planned as a possibility for artists living in small, medium and  ex-centric cities all around the globe to have a creative exchange and interaction with different enviroments and a diversity of artistic approaches to life. To travel, to get acquainted with other artists, to share and create artwork and knowledge, to make a web that allows to grow as individuals and artists in their own communities, while exploring their own identities as well as the other's.

This was the  first Encounter to be held in Morelia, Michoacán, México during  January, 2004.   We want it to be the start of a continual and growing relationship among artists, communities, cities, cultures, knowing that this will provide an alternative to the one of neoliberal globalization: the isolation of real cultures to stablish a big, huge, empty world.

These  artists were in Morelia for 3 weeks, discovering the old p'urhepecha culture as well as the modern mexican, relating to the local community as well as getting to know each other, and making artwork to share with the host citizens.
